Our Story

Once upon a time, there were two sisters.

One was a writer and journalist. The other was an artist and calligrapher. For a while, life carried them in different directions; one into words, the other into art.

And then motherhood opened a new chapter.

Priyanka was bringing up her little boy away from India, and suddenly found herself aching for home in ways she had never expected. She wanted him to grow up with the stories she had heard as a child. The colours, the festivals, the languages, the tiny everyday details that make India feel like India.

And she knew just the person who could help her bring those memories to life. Her sister, Payal.

Together, they began creating clothes and textiles that told stories. Prints inspired by India, but not in the obvious way. Motifs that were playful, nostalgic, rooted, and full of wonder. Designs that began as hand-drawn art and slowly found their way onto soft cottons, malmals and easy silhouettes.

What started as a children’s brand soon grew with us, our families and our customers.

Over the years, we have learnt that reinvention is also a kind of storytelling. Our family twinning was born for mothers who dressed their children with so much joy, but rarely found clothes that made them feel included in the moment. Our viral No-Bra Nightsuits came from listening to women who simply wanted to be comfortable at home without feeling exposed or restricted. Again and again, we find ourselves returning to the same question: can we make this softer, easier, happier, more thoughtful? That question is what keeps Tura Turi growing.

Today, Tura Turi is a family lifestyle brand for newborns, children, women and men. We make soft cotton nightwear, no-bra nightsuits, vacation wear, festivewear, newborn essentials, family twinning outfits and everyday pieces that feel as good as they look.

At the heart of it all, the idea remains the same.

To create clothes that are comfortable, joyful and full of story. Clothes that let children play, women breathe, families twin, and everyone feel a little more at home in their own skin.

When you shop at Tura Turi, you don’t just buy an outfit.

You take home a story.

Meet Priyanka & Payal

Priyanka was a journalist and writer for more than a decade before she co-founded Tura Turi. She started her career as a television reporter with NDTV 24/7, did a stint in the UAE as the chief correspondent for Dubai One TV, before heading back to the city she calls home, Mumbai.

Payal is a Mumbai-based artist & calligrapher with a client-list that includes the Cannes Film Festival and Sotheby’s. She is also an accomplished artist, having been commissioned by companies like Good Earth and India Bulls for installations and paintings.

Together the sisters combined their love for art, heritage and stories into Tura Turi.
